Week 2 - MBA 6101 - Marketing Website

Image
Prior to this assignment, I have had opportunities to create websites for various university organizations and even an American Kennel Club show dog. They were fully functional websites with pages you would find on any business sites such as a home page, about us, contact form, photos/videos, and what not. The two web development programs I used most were Wordpress and Wix, but never Google Sites. So, I was excited to try out this program to gain additional experience.  For my website, I decided to create a hypothetical company website offering my social media marketing experience and graphic design services. The website has a simple format with a small portfolio, a contact form, and an about me page. If I were to pursue this as my career, I would definitely include my personal social media account along with more recently created designs. Google Sites' user interface is similar to other web development programs, but it is even more simplified. The basic editor controls are provid...

Week 2 - MBA 6101 - Surfing the Tsunami

Image
As discussed in last week's reading of  Surfing the Tsunami , artificial intelligence (AI) is already making significant impact in most major industries. This week, we further explored specific areas impacted by AI, such as physical and virtual automation, advice/digital assistants, analysis, science, and space (Kelsey, 2018).  AI is influencing industries such as media and education as well (Thomas, 2022). Within education, AI-digitized textbooks have been in early development along with virtual tutors with the ability to recognize emotions and facial expressions of students who may been struggling. Media companies such as Bloomberg even uses Cyborg technology to expedite processing complex financial reports.  Regardless of whether you are embracing or fearful of this technology, as emphasized in the book, it is inevitable and should be regarded as such. This inevitability does make me wonder whether studying AI and it's general workings will become a subject necessary t...

Week 1 - MBA 6101 - ChatGPT Personal Branding

Image
The usage and accessibility of AI technology has expanded within the past few years. Today, we are able to ask online AI software to create artwork along with a variety of written pieces. To this new technology I say, where were you when I was in high school struggling to write another essay for my literature class.  For today's blog, I used ChatGPT to gain more knowledge on personal branding, specifically on LinkedIn. While I have a decent amount of connections, I understand my profile require more activity and personalization. Therefore, I asked ChatGPT "how to optimize personal branding on LinkedIn".  Below is the AI's response.   While I am aware of the suggestions listed, it is helpful to read a concise list as a reminder. In terms of questions similar to the one I asked, I believe the AI does provide good fundamental principles for new users.  I also inquired about additional resources to read on the topic, in which the AI provided several guides from credible ...

Week 1 - MBA 6601 - Guerrilla Marketing

Image
I think it's safe to say that we cannot escape marketing. We are constantly marketed to, and our web searches are data that, in turn, provide all-to-specific ads appearing on our social media accounts.  As mentioned in Chapter 1, principles such as intentional relationship building, interactivity, and "you" marketing are fundamentals for guerrilla marketing (Levinson et al., 2007). It seems many direct-to-consumer businesses are already embracing marketing strategies to appeal to their consumer audiences. Social media only further allows those strategies to thrive.  Even more traditional industries such as health care, are now hoping to tap into the success that tech companies have found. Personalized care provided through virtual means seems to be the new frontier. Accessibility to care and inclusive messages are emphasized. Most of all, the abundance of information that used to be "little-known facts" are now a signal for transparency and a company's trust...
